What is a Statement of Purpose?

The single most important part of the student’s application is the SOP, which enables the admissions committee to know who the student is, what has influenced his/her career so far, his/her professional interests and future endeavors.

Writing a quality SOP is a long, intensive process which takes approximately one month to complete if it is written well. The essay should be unique, persuasive and convince the admissions committee of the suitability of the student’s candidature. For the student this would be a good experience in introspecting and understanding about his/herself.

Through a student’s SOP, Letters of Recommendation and Résumé, the admissions committee should be able to assess not only what a student seeks from the university but also how well a student can contribute to the class. These tools provide insights into a student’s personality and individuality that will help the admission committee on assessing whether a student will be an asset to the university.

Our admissions team will not write a student’s SOP, it is meant to be written by the student. But the team will edit the language if required; they will also assist the student in the content of SOP in a way that will positively present the student’s case for an admission.
